About CRCD Partners, LLC
CRCD Partners, LLC changes lives, one home at a time, by building in the communities we serve. As a minority-owned and operated company, our collaboration with the family of CRCD companies means we build responsibly, provide case-management services, and create high paying jobs. We invest in individuals, families, and small businesses to end poverty and homelessness.
We are proud of our investment in South LA!
We currently own and operate 3 historic buildings significant in the African American community:
The Dunbar Hotel, Historic 28th Street YMCA, Lincoln Theatre.

The Dunbar
The Dunbar Hotel was a focal point for LA's African-American community in the segregated '30s and '40s, hosting world-famous jazz musicians in its nightclub. The Dunbar Hotel was eventually converted into affordable housing, and the two Somerville projects were built on either side of the historic building.

Lincoln Theater
The Lincoln Theatre, located on the Central Avenue Historic District in South Central Los Angeles, is referred to as the “Apollo of the West” due to its significant role as a local cultural and business hub of the African-American community from the 1920's to 50's. The Moorish Revival building, designed by architect John Paxton Perrine, was built as a grand movie palace. It featured live theater, vaudeville, motion pictures and live performances by the leading African-American performers, including Duke Ellington and Billie Holiday. The theatre was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2009. Acquired in 2020 by the Coalition for Responsible Community Development (CRCD) with the goal to return the Historic Theatre to a cultural center and economic hub.

Historic 28th Street YMCA
The Historic 28th Street YMCA Apartments was designed by renowned African American architect Paul Revere Williams and is listed on local, state and federal historic registers and the rehabilitation scope conforms with Federal standards. CRCD partnered with Clifford Beers and Associates to create an adaptive re-use of the historic building that now provides 48 units of studio-style affordable housing and 1 studio-style manager unit. The project includes supportive social services for tenants and approximately 8,000 square feet of ground floor space for the Coalition for Responsible Community Development (CRCD) and other neighborhood services. The 50 rooms that originally existed were only 85 to 110 square feet, and had a shared bathroom on each floor, as well as a common cafeteria on the second floor.
